a citizen, I'm not real sure what I should do now, I was pounding Rats until

Umm, you became a citizen, so you've found at least one quest. It's likely
there are more that you can do. Just talk to a bunch of npcs, and do things
they say if it sounds fun.

Along the way, you'll likely meet other people, sometimes group with them, and
probably kill some stuff. Repeat as long as you're enjoying yourself, then
stop.

And be aware that seemingly innocuous FedEx quests can sometimes open
up a lot more...and sometimes aren't more than they seem.

there are lots and lots of quests no matter which town you started in.
might end up just running all over the place but i found it fun to get xp
just for delivering stuff. I started having to make a list of NPCs in the
various zones to talk to during beta. Sometimes the money from the fedex
quests is just 22c but it adds up.

I am trying to get off of newbie island. I attained level 5 human fighter.
Now what, I have been stuck at that level for three days.

You need to go and talk to the ambassador. He (or she) is in the
building on the beach. He'll direct you to the Duke who is just
outside the hut.

Basically do all quest the trainer gives you, kill orc boss (grouping
is a good idea for that) and find Ebik's missing parts then leave.

I'm quessing its Ebiks' quest that you are missing that one got me and
isn't very obvious. After you talk to the two people in the beach hut
talk to him on the beach. Find the three items he wants, talk to him
again and you can leave.

Did you leave the Isle yet? You can get up to 220% towards your next
experience level by hunting there a bit longer.

Is the Isle of Refuge the same for good and evil alike or are the good
characters substituted with the evil?

The only character that differs is the ambassador - if you're evil you
get only the Freeportian one, if you're good you get only the
Qeynosian one.

Ebik's quest isn't necessary to leave the island. The only 'necessary
quests are to talk to Gaven and choose a basic class and to talk to the
ambassador and then the Duke to leave. However, doing *all* the quests and
gaining as much experience as possible (including tradeskills if you're
going to do any) is *very* much recommended. Not only will you be geared
better but you'll know the game much better.

Not necessary. You don't have to do any quests on the island, except the
first one which selects your class.

Just talk to the ambassador in the hut on the beach and ask to join the city
of your choice. (Which ambassador is there is determined by the alignment you
chose at character creation.) He directs you to an NPC to speak to, which is
right outside the hut. Once you're done with that, just go ring the bell.

That is a good question. Seriously, I have not left the island yet and want
to get off of it.

During beta, I noticed the dialog of the ambassador refered to the other
amabassador, and made it seem like you had a choice which one to deal with.
I wonder if they planned at some point to have both ambassadors there and
have you choose good/evil on the island, rather than at character creation?

Check your quest journal. There should be a quest in there telling you what
to do. If not, go kill a few things--it may not get added until you hit level
6 (which you can do on the island).

You don't need to do Ebik's quest to leave, nor do you need to kill the
Orc boss.

I thought if your character was neutral, you got both embassadors ?

I remember seeing both together in beta...

As other messages in the thread have indicated speaking to the ambassador
will send you to the duke who then says yu can leave.
In that same area there's a dock with two bells, I think the one on the left
is the one to leave the isle.
It is worthwhile getting your experience level up to 220% (and tradeskills
higher) - everything is within reach and much easier to navigate than Qeynos
to start with.
And you can sell stuff off to get some extra money behind you too =) I had
10 sp by the time I left.

It's not possible to be neutral, though it may be that it was possible
originally. I'm fairly certain I didn't get that choice when I
started in the beta, in late September, IIRC.

Neutral means you can choose to be either good or evil aligned but you
do that on the char creation screen. You can't be neutral in the sense
of not being aligned to either city.

That's what I mean - you may belong to a neutral race, but your
character can never be neutral, you must be aligned with a city.
Unless, I guess, you betray your city to the point that they won't let
you back in but don't complete it to go the other city, but then
you're forever stuck at level 19 or below since you can't get a class
quest (or so I assume).
