Hey, so I just installed some new mobo/cpu cooler (this issue was persistent with the old parts). My PC can shutdown/power-on fine but whenever I use "Sleep/restart" the PC turns on but no signal is sent to the monitor. Once in a while the PC restarts 100% fine

-I7-4790K (not OC)
-Asus z98-a (new)
-CM Seidon 240m (new)
-G.skill Ripjaws 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600
-1TB WD Caviar Black
-Samsung 840series 120gb (OS on this drive)
-Corsair Professional HX850W
-Win.7
-added! > GTX 680 4gb

Searching this criteria I come up with a number of issues ranging from OS issues, to PSU issues. Anyone have experience on this?
-sorry added the GPU, wasn't thinking clearly when I wrote it originally.

It's been my experience as a tech over the years that hibernate, Sleep and all of the alternative power down modes tend not to function correctly. I don't know wny. I don't know if it's each manufacturer coming up with their own standards for what should happen or what got lost in translation. My advice is don't worry about the issue and just start using "Shutdown" and let your computer be completely off while you are gone.

The reality is that:
1. It could be an outdate BIOS not working correctly
2. It could be an issue with the OS (or drivers)
3. It could be an issue with the Motherboard or chipset
4. It could be an issue with the video card

You can chase it down if you want... I just use shutdown because sleep modes suck and don't usually work right.

iGPU = Integrated Graphics Processing Unit - present on most of the modern Intel Processors, if we don't count high-end models.

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit ≠ is not the same as VGA, or graphics card. GPU is only a part of VGA [video graphics adapter/array], together with VRAM, and other components of VGA.

haha sorry I added the gpu to the list of items in the build. (gtx 680 4gb), and yes I did all the drivers right after the install, I was going to upgrade to Win.8.1 soon.

thanks! dyn99
can you go in the bios screen by taping the DEL button ...
and check if your graphic boot on igp or dedicated gpu card

and if it set to pci-e gpu card , try to put it at igp (integrated cpu) instead
after that , try to cleanly remove the gpu driver ( gtx 680 )
and reinstall it

Hey, tried what you recommended badboyrog2, completely cleaned and reinstalled the gpu driver, seems to still happen off of restarts/sleep. Although this wont kill me I can always just use shut-down if I have to.
