Question Some crazy fluctuations in CPU temperature

I have fx-8320 and I have recently noticed that temperature for CPU goes above 200 Celsius for a second and then it goes back to normal. I have also noticed totally different cases, when temperature falls from normal to 0 and shoots up to normal temperature again. I have been measuring CPU temperature simultaneously with several programs, however time wise their figures are inconsistent i.e. If one program shows temperature above 200 Celsius others don't. What could be causing this? I bought this PC 2 years ago and have not changed thermal paste since then, so could it be one of the culprits?

When using more than one monitoring program they can interfere with each other giving false readings.
Each much access the smbus for information, if one is already reading the next program can't read and reports incorrect information.
Stick with one program for monitoring.

Initially I did stick to one program, but this kind of temperature spikes seemed so unrealistic that I started using several programs (running them separately and simultaneously). The only program which did not indicate those spikes at all was speed fan.
