Some games not looking/feeling smooth FPS wise.

Hello guys,

In CS:GO and especially Fortnite my FPS looks thrash.

Its over 60 all the time. My PC is good enough for both games, obviously.

Overall my pc is clean inside, and in windows too. I just reinstalled windows 10 again the other day.

So what did I do already? Well not too much because Im not really that great with problem solving like this.

-I went to monitor my hardware temps under load and they were fine, pc didn't slow down because of high temps.

-Reinstalled Win10, like mentioned

-Updated all drivers

-Looked for solutions, no luck.

-Tweaked settings in NVidia Control Panel

-Lowered settings in games mentioned

PC Specs: !CPU ''OC'' to! 3.3

I don't know what to do anymore.

Thanks in advance.

Its over 60 all the time

Firstly, your monitor's are 60Hz, if you're over this in frame rate it will give off micro stutter as the monitor can't keep up and frames are clashing and overlapping each other. Vsync in Nvidia CP helps to sync the frame rate by essentially capping it to the monitor's refresh.

Can also try Fast sync in the Vsync options list to help minimise input lag Vsync gives.

Other things to try/tweak.

*Disable Windows 10's Game Bar
*Power plans both in Windows and Nvidia to favor performance
*Disconnect one of your monitors

Additionally can try cap the frame rate using Nvidia Inspector if input lag from Vsync or Fast sync is too much.

Cap frame rate to 59. Need to click the apply button top right corner to make the change. With it capped to 59 enable Vsync as normal.

It works but it also doesn't. as you may know having vsync in games like cs;go is actually terrible. I know its not as much as normal but still. Besides that, it just seems like I need to fix a problem that I shouldnt be having in the first place with my hardware right? I can play demanding SP games just fine..

If the problem is game specific but overall other games run fine then focus your efforts finding out why for these games instead of looking at your system as a whole.

Think csgo had an update recently. If you search recent csgo fps problems there may be launch commands to try.

Fortnite has been having problems too.

It is hard to find direct causes because there's a forever battle between Microsoft updates, Game updates and GPU driver updates. Finding solutions can be difficult but usually come about with people playing the same games helping each other at support forums like Steam, GeForce or the game's website.

Maybe try older GPU driver. Perhaps 391.35.
