Hey Tom's Hardware. I am currently helping my friend that has a problem with his newly built computer. Specifically his RAM Speed.
Firstly his main specs are
Intel i5 4690K @3.9
MSI H97 gaming 3
16GB (4x4GB sticks 2 are red and 2 are white) HyperX Fury 1866Mhz RAM
Samsung SSD
And 1 TB HDD.
We have installed Windows 8 Pro. We open the task manager and go to the performence tab and then click the memory usage tab. Looking at the speed Windows shows that his 1866Mhz Stick are currently running at 1333Mhz. I read online that an option called XMP should be enabled in the Bios. (I have AMD based PC so I am not familiar with this setting)
Now we go to the UEFI Bios and the OC tab and search for this option but it is nowhere to be seen. We searched for a video and the option was just not there.
I had an idea that maybe the Stock Bios does not come with this setting out of the box and that we need to flash a new one (I have flashed Bios on my MB and that added some new settings for me) does anyone think this is a plausible idea? Would be great to hear back from everyone and please don't spare any ideas that could help!
Thank you
Jake
