I have a:
GPU: rx 480 4gb
CPU: athlon II 880k 4ghz
RAM: 8gb ram

and im lagging on games. I'm planning on buying a i5 7600k 3.8ghz, 525gb crucial mx300 and a new motherboard to fit the cpu it. Do you think that would stop me from lagging on game because right now im bottleknecking on games and its really annoying.

The games i play moslty that i lag on
R6 Siege
Rust

Will i need a new Power supply by any chance?

Get a 16GB RAM kit (2x 8GB sticks) with your new chipset (CPU, motherboard) and you will be golden. The RX 480 is still a strong GPU for 1080p and will last for a few more years. One more thing of mention: the K-series Intel GPUs do not come with stock CPU coolers, so you will need to buy an aftermarket cooler for it. My recommendation is the Cryorig H7 as the best budget-oriented CPU cooler.

Do you know how i can check what specific motherboard i need for it to fit in my case. I was looking at buying the MSI H110M GAMING, Intel H110, S 1151, DDR4, SATA3 6Gbps, Intel Gigabit LAN, USB 3.1 Gen1 A, Micro ATX.

if you want a 7600k then you need a z270 motherboard to take advantage of it

for a 7600 non K, you need a b250 motherboard

look at your case specs, it will say what sizes it supports

Unless I missed something since Kaby Lake's release, a K-series chip works on a H-series motherboard. It's just that there isn't any overclocking support of that chip on an H-series motherboard unlike a Z-series motherboard. What he needs to decide is if the more money on the 3.8GHz/4.2GHz turbo of the 7600K is worth it over the 3.5GHz/4.1GHz turbo 7600.

it works AFTER a bios update

also he would not be able to overclock

if the bios is not up to date he just bought an expensive paper weight, as it will not boot

Ah, well that goes without saying when buying a motherboard that was originally designed for Sky Lake. Interestingly, NewEgg recently had a combo deal of an MSI Z170 motherboard with a free Celeron Sky Lake chip that would be used to update the BIOS for Kaby Lake.

Could i get a 8GB RAM kit instead becaue of budget :D

Sure but keep a couple of things in mind: AAA games these days are saying that 16GB of RAM is the "recommended" requirement with 8GB being "minimum" requirement. Generally the difference between minimum and recommended means you may have to turn down some settings if running minimum specs.

Also, if you want to upgrade to 16GB your second two sets of memory may not work together even if they are of the same make and model. Memory is sold in kits of 2x and 4x for a reason: they are proven to work together and tested at the factory. They are made from the same cut of silicon.

Production variations between different silicon manufacturing cycles is one reason. Another is that the manufacturer may change memory chip venders between production cycles due to supply requirements. This happens regularly.

I dont understand what you mean with that and whats difference between the h110m and the b250m?

the h110 mobo is a generation older than a 7600

i5 6600 works out of the box with h110, a 7600 will not

the bios MUST be updated for a 7600 to work with h110
it will not boot if it has an old bios

a b250 motherboard works out of the box for a 7600 because it was designed to run it from the start
