Some help with my new PC. About 2500$.

Hello,

The first thing I must say is that I live in Spain, so I look for prices in € and possibly some components in U.S. are cheaper / expensive than in Spain, so I will not ask you to help me in the monetary aspect but the technician.

I made a first configuration but due to my lack of knowledge surely i have do something wrong, i want that oy suggest me changes in case of any incompatible component or you can choose one that is giving you better performance.

The mouse and keyboard are not included because I am still thinking about them (the keyboard will be mechanical and the mouse will be surely a G500 or a MX518).

Here is the list:

HDD: Switch those drive for the Seagate 7200.12 1 TB or Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB. There's also a 500 GB version of both of those. These are faster than the WDs, not to mention usually cheaper.

Case: I'd get the HAF 922. It's a better case and a little cheaper.

HSF: Get the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus. It's a heck of a lot cheaper and it's one of the best.

PSU: You could get by on a 650W.

GPU: I would highly recommend stretching to an HD 5850. It's a lot better.

I'm assuming this is a gaming build. If so, you'd do yourself a huge favor by ditching the i7 and going with the i5-750. Here's exactly what I'd build (the price should be about the same):

CPU/Mobo: i5-750 and Asus P7P55D-E Pro $375
RAM/GPU: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 and HD 5870 $510
HDD: 2x Seagate 7200.12 1 TB $170
Seagate 7200.12 500 GB $55
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 750W $85 after rebate
Case: HAF 922 $80 after rebate
Optical: Cheap SATA DVD burner $22
HSF (if OC): Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus $35 (with free card reader)

Total: $1,337. If it's possible, stick the HD 5970 in there.

First of all,what do you need this pc for?Gaming or something else?Secondly,are you sure these which you have chosen are worth 2500$ because in my country,in Europe,these are more like 1500 -2000 euros.Now,follow mad admiral's decisions even though I would disagree with the i5 750.I have it but right now I think the better choice would be a phenom 2 955.It is cheap and well performing and later you will be able to upgrade to the six core thubans.It is great too if you get 2x5850 or 2x5870 gpus or even 2xgtx 470s (I wouldn't get the last).If you're not getting two cards then even the i5 750 would be great.As for the case I agree with mad admiral and if you have the extra space I would get the haf 932.The last thing I have to add is that the 5970 is the best choice of gpu you can make right now.That's all.

First of all, very much thanks for the answers.

I will use the PC to play but overall i am a software developer and i usually needs to run a virtual machine (Steve, port the iPhone SDK to Windows), web server or other program that use a lot of CPU. That is the reason to get a higher PC, also i know that i will not to upgrade my pc in some years and i want that it work ok until the next update.

I must to think a lot to use the hardware setup suggested by MadAdmiral. I need to be sure that the setup will work well enough for my needs for quite some time.

My setup its about 1900€, using the euro-dollar converter of google that gives me 2500$, but it can be wrong.

As i have said, i must to study the MadAdmiral suggestion, but my setup is actually this:

If you don't want to upgrade soon then the i7 930 is better than my previous suggestion.All I would change is the 3xsamsung f3s because I'm not sure you need all that space,but I don't develop software so maybe I'm wrong.

The a-UD3R motherboard you have has the second pci-e slot and usb 3.0 sharing the same bandwidth. So if you want to crossfire in the future, your usb 3 will be negated. If that doesn't bother you, no biggie. Otherwise, I would recommend spending a little more on:

IMO, its hard to justify the HAF 932 when a 922 or even the PC-K62 you originally had listed are considerably cheaper without sacrificing much cooling. Cooling in general, however, won't be a problem of any of the cases mentioned in this thread thus far. With your large budget, I see no problem in getting the PC-K62 for a few bucks more than the 922.

There's also nothing wrong with picking up a more expensive cooler. I agree that the hyper 212+ has an awesome price to performance value, but I think you have the space to fit in a high end cooler . Though, at the price range of the U12P SE2, Prolimatech's Megahalem, Venomous X, Titan Fenrir among others will perform better. The acoustics of the U12P are quiet nice, though as the included fans are silent. If that's what you are looking for and you still want the performance, look into Noctua's flagship.

I would double check the clearance on your RAM sticks, though the design of the heatspreaders on the mushkins usually work for larger CPU coolers.

Other than that, nothing I would change. HX over TX if you want a modular PSU for more euros. My last recommendation is something you should take with a grain of salt. If you don't really care for sound quality or just want some speakers for basic output... then those z323s will work. However, if there's a least bit of an audiophile in you, then avoid logitech. Those speakers are about the only decent set they have, and even then you'll notice a difference from a premium/better (to put it bluntly) brand like Klipsch's promedia 2.1s.

I'd change the CPU fan to a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus to save a lot of money or to a Prolimatech Megahalems (with two fans) for the best air cooling.
