some of the case screws bend my motherboard

When I look at my motherboard i see that some of the screws that came with my cm storm trooper case bend my motherboard. This wasn't much concern when i was installing it but after a couple weeks of reading on the issue i wonder if i could have damaged my board. The system seems to be working fine since i have been using it for 3 week. Today i tried to reseat my evga gtx 980 super clocked to solve some performance issues and noticed that it moved upward after i released the screw meaning that it was pushed down in-order to get into place. I also noticed that the screw point did not mach up with the cases screw point unless one pushed down. Now i wonder if my parent who installed this did not install it correctly which could've led to poor performance in the games i was playing. The standoffs are screwed in to the mounting point one at the top left and another next to the top left, and one at the bottom left. Each point looks like it bends the board. Is this okay? Is the board damaged since the system boots up and runs fine? Should i look to relocate the standoffs to other mounting points and if so where would be the correct points to mount them? My motherboard is the msi gaming 5 if that matters

yes, you put the 9 stand offs in the case, then install the board over them, install 8 stand offs if your case has a little post in the middle hole as this is a guide to hold the board still while you add the screws, then use the normal screws that come with the case to install the board.

i think when installed we screwed the motherboard on the case with the gold standoffs instead of screwing in the standoffs first. Were we supposed to screw standoffs in first then screw in the motherboard with other screws?

does that mean i have disconnect everything from the board and completely take out the motherboard or could i work around it? Since it has been like that for a about 3 weeks now, is my motherboard still okay or has there been some permanent damage?

I would suggest you take it out and redo the stand offs, but the only things you need to take off are the GPU and the wires, the RAM, CPU and CPU cooler are fine to stay in place while you remove the board, if its all working fine though, you possibly got away with it and not damaged much, but I wouldn't leave it like that, as you change things the stress will ware the board a bit, it might short out on the back of the case where the PCB is touching the metal ( if this is happening that is ) and you are a lot more likely to damage the PC if you move it with the board like that.

providing you have fixed it now, and it's working fine, I can't imagine you have done any physical damage as it would have caused a problem, just be careful inserting things into the sockets to be safe but you should be fine at this point
