As we speak, i'm using my laptop to type this. Anyways, I was cleaning my mouse which has little holes that get gunk in them, and i found the best way to clean them is to use a mechanical pencil. (yes I know that its dumb) Some of the holes are vents for airflow I guess. I was cleaning these vents and my lead broke off. Now the lead sits inside the mouse, bouncing around. I immediately turned off the mouse, and haven't used it yet.

Is there anything to worry about?

Thanks

Interesting.....

Would not think so.

What make and model mouse?

Could be possible to just take off the shell and shake out the graphite (carbon) being what pencil "lead" truly is - conductive but not metallic.

Taking the shell off may void the warranty - I would try removing the shell though. Judgement call for you.....

If battery powered - open the battery compartment, remove batteries and shake the mouse. The "lead" may fall out.

Very likely the "bouncing around" is likely to break the piece up even more to where the smaller pieces will not jam somewhere or possibly cause a short.
