Some programs cannot access the internet

I can't download an install program from the web. I can access data from the web but OpenOffice (and others) won't download for the install.

What is the error & what browser are you downloading with ?

I'm using IE. The response is dead silence ie no error message is shown. This is a faqirly recent problem. I'm rebuilding my computer since a virus attack.

I would reinstall Office but have the disks and lost the serial numbers. I'm tryin to install OpenOffice in its place.

Open Office is good. Using it for about 9 months. Works fine, only complaint is it takes time to load, but once in memory, a-ok.
