So, my current build has 3 storage drives: an SSD that has windows installed on it and some games, an SSD with some games on it and an HDD that has everything else on it (videos, pictures, games basically a huge archive). I also have a retail version of windows 7 which im told works on 3 machines. Now, i want to replace my motherboard for reasons unrelated to my question. What will i need to backup? will i have to backup all 3 drives or are the drives "hot-swappable"? i.e can i just install windows on a new SSD and then plug all the other drives in? or will they not work like that? do i even need to re-install windows? and also, i have set up my PC so that everything is done on the hard drive and the SSD's are basically left alone unless i install something on them. Will i have to re-do everything when replacing my mobo?
