So, for WHATEVER reason my Microsoft Windows didn't reactivate on my new PC at all even though I went through their steps of binding it to a Microsoft account for Windows 10 and their support is so terrible that it is legit impossible to reach them for me.

Anyways, I tried researching online but just keep getting related searches for genuine copies and assume physical copies of their Windows Key.

What I want to know is, if I buy just the product key and it says "DOES NOT bind to Microsoft account". Is this used to just instantly activate Windows fast? What about if you ever need to reset the PC? Or even fully reset the PC? If they say it doesn't bind are they even genuine codes at that point? And finally I'm assuming these codes don't work if you make any major hardware changes?

I'm just a bit worried when it comes these codes and would be annoying if every time I "Reset my PC" feature I have to purchase another one.

Currently did move on to Windows 11 now (just need to activate it), but yeah Microsoft Support sucks.

I'm assuming you're referring to an OEM license key. The downside to OEM keys is that they are tethered to the BIOS chip, meaning when you swap the board, you'll need a new key.

Did you perform the internal upgrade path from Windows 10? If so, you should reinstall the OS.

The least expensive legitimate site I have found W11P keys for is Newegg. Instant delivery. I cannot confirm if the "Home" version is the least expensive.

I have never run into anything saying that a Home or Pro key would not be able to "bind" to MS account especially as you need an account for setting up 11 initially.

Several other people and I here have had issues with the W10- to W11 entitlement going deactivated later. I also could not actually get a person to discuss this with. Had the email with the (W10) key that I purchased direct from MS. The really funny part of the whole thing was that the purchase history also did not show any of the W7 or W10 keys I have purchased from them over the years, and the PC in question was just suddenly not in the "Devices" area of my MS account information online.

Yeah, I used internal upgrade because I just can't get it to activate on there either. It would always show the error code and also if I use the change hardware feature nothing shows up, that is why I tried contacting Microsoft but that seems impossible. Which is why I just thought, I will go to Wins 11 now, then use a code to bind but no one in their right mind would purchase from MS directly price is ridiculous here in EUR. I don't mind legitimate but I'm also not going to pay an arm and leg for it.

No. That's the point. You can of course choose to purchase a key from a reseller. It will be activated.

However as stated in the piece you quote, the Owner of one of these sites is saying it's legit. I wonder would MS consider it the same!? Hence 'grey' area!

BTW, I'm not saying MS deserve your money for a full price licence.
