hello there!!i wanted to know some aspects of overclocking.first of all, about temps.it´s very common to see people just saying that they are ocing xp mobiles cpu till 2500mhz just with 2500xp mobile cpus, and further, and what they don´t say is that they are running water cooled systems.on air..it´s almost imposible to keep around 55ºc which is said to be the safest temp for an overclocked cpu.so, as far as i´m concerned,we should also take into account the fact of electromigration.this is,the speed of cpu at stock, whenever it´s increased, also the particles into contact with cpu run faster so that they increase heat.electromigration is said to be the unique thing that has to do with the cpu life expectancy.in my case..runing on air...i am able to achieve 2420 out of an xp 3000 (fsb 400 2100mhz) and at full load with a gigabyte rocket cooler pro i get 57ºc which i consider a lot,and i do not want my cpu to lose life expectancy.according to a friend of mine which has studied a lot this things moreover when his job depends on his knowledge and he sais..that more o less from 200 till 300 mhz you reduce cpu life for about a 20% and this is more notable if your temps are more than 55 and also if the voltage is innecessarily high.
so i consider that overclocking is as said,do it on your own risk.i will stay at 2368 mhz in my xp 3000+ fsb 400 because i can maintein it at 55ºc at full load.does anyone has any idea of which temps and voltage should not be passed so that the cpu lasts the better???
by the way..i am running at 225 x 10.5=2368mhz and ram is at 2.5 4 4 9.are this settings average or are there good???
thanks for your imputs
xp 3000+ 2100mhz@2368mhz 225x10.5 512 mb geil ratio 1:1 fsb 2.5 4 4 9 120gb seagate ati radeon 9600 xt 500/600 at 560/720 thermaltake dammier V 5000.
