Hello there , I've been lurking for a long while here now :) and finally decided to make a new PC .

My current PC is getting really old and slower at the new games (FX8350 Overclocked to 4.8GHz and a HD7950) . I made the decision to make a new PC when I built my father a budget gaming PC with a I3 7100 CPU and a GTX1050 that seemed to run faster than mine .

So I went and ordered the first part of my build , a Phanteks P400S case .

The CPU I decided on is a Ryzen 1600X (Some guy nearby sells them without the fan for a really good price) , far cheaper than intel 7600k .

The motherboard that I want to order is a MSI B350 Tomahawk . Still thinking on a X370 (I don't really know if it's worth it) .

Either way in early January I'm gonna go ahead and buy a Power Supply (I think 500 - 550 W should be enough , right?) , CPU , CPU Cooler and RAM and the next month buy what's remaining .
I haven't built a gaming PC in a while so I'm thinking on some new stuff like : M.2 SSD for OS and I heard the B350 has a nice software RGB controller that would make it look nice trough the tempered glass.

My biggest dilema is the GPU . I do not want to go crazy with this system , I want it to be decent enough but not to burn a hole trough my wallet.

I was thinking of either the RX580 with 8gb or the 6gb GTX1060 (I like the shadowplay feature).

I almost forgot to say : I plan on using it on a 140hz 1080p monitor.

What do you guys think ? Any tips ? .

Thanks a lot and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Well, it sounds like you've got the basics figured out. My advice would be to go for the 1060, or a 1070 if you really want to take advantage of that 140hz monitor. The 1060 would be a great card, but it might not give you all 140 fps you need to take advantage of that high refresh rate. As a side note, you should find out if your monitor has FreeSync or GSync. If it has FreeSync go with AMD, if GSync go with NVidia. Adaptive refresh rates make everything better.

Definitely go with the B350 chipset unless you plan on using dual graphics or the board you are looking for has some feature you can't live without. The B350 Tomahawk is a fine board.

I'd say go for the M.2 SSD. They really don't have much of a price difference on the 2.5" drives and fewer cables make the system look a lot cleaner through that tempered glass.

500W is enough power supply for this system with the 1060, but if you go bigger on the graphics card I'd say the 550W or even a 600W would be the more efficient choice... not that the 1070 uses a lot of power, but power supplies just run better with less of a load on them.

Well , I saw a modular seasonic 520W PSU , I think that would be just right for this system . As for the GPU , I'm leaning towards the 1060 aswell . I think I will be more than satisfied with it especially coming from a 7950 .

Thanks for the response tough !
