I have a KT7A mobo, athlon 1.1Ghz (not o/c), 256Mb Micron pc133 cl2, creative geforce ddr. Sometimes when I first turn on the comp I get random characters streaming up the screen in lines in multi colours (The Matrix stylee). Also I get random crashes and certain programs report out of memory/not enough memory (outlook express and virus checkers mainly). I phoned up the retailer and they think I have a faulty mobo, what do you think. I don't want to send it back just to get a replacement and for it to do the same thing. Another thing, I got the win95/cih virus (chenobyl variant) shortly after building it but the problems of streaming characters started before it was detected. Do you think that it screwed with the bios chip, it didn't seem to do any damage to files on my HD though.

you need to research that virus and see what it does affect and that will probably answer your questions. It does sound like the bios has been messed with.
