something is not right

Hi!
I just picked up a 4 years old 17" CRT and I find it has a strange color problem. The background color which normally is always black, has turned to reddish brown and after opening windows desktop all the colors are towards red!
(There aren't any color balance selections in the monitor's menu!)
Does this sound like a malfunction?
