Something is slowing my hard drive. (I believe)

So, I recently made a post about this the other day, only to realise a back up was running. Now however, that is all done and my computer hasonly degraded from last night. I am running a 2TB Caviar Black, Asus Asrock Z77, 8GB Of Corsair vengeance ram, Geforce GTX670, an i53470K all on a Corsair TX650 power unit.

Now, I believe it is the hard drive as I recently replaced a fairly old one and it removed my symptoms, but now my computer has ground down again. My hard drive now is only a month old.

What makes me think it is my drive is that in World of Warcraft I can get up to 300FPS If I remove the vsync, yet when I do things like bring up the map or inspect a character the screen freezes momentarily (Anywhere from half a second to three). The HDD Light is also constantly on, and my CPU never really tops 50% Load. Nor does my RAM.

So - Bar replacing it, what can I do? (I Have opened task manager and found no oustanding program on the I/O columns, other than the game I was running.)

Solution
Hi,

Since a number of weeks I experienced similar issues.
Checking the application logs of Windows revealed events with error code 1930 or so.
The event detail pointed to this MS bulletin
Since I adapted the registry, the issues seem to be gone.

Perhaps your system has the same problem.
the freezing on the game sounds like either a video card issue or a CPU issue. I had something like this happen with a few games caused by a old XFX R7770 video card some time ago. I'd say try reinstalling drivers and if that fails and you still think it's the HDD then there are some programs out there to check the health and other things of your HDD

<Cursing removed by moderator>, I don't know why my computer is incessant on backing up but after going through an online tutorial on how to use process monitor, it turns out my computer is STILL backing up - Despite the fact that when I open backup and restore in control panel, it does not state that there is a backup in progress and simply says my last one was cancelled. I'll show myself to the door.... (Also, on a note, is there a way to close my own threads? I cannot seem to find it.)
