Something is wrong with Max Payne 3.

Hello,
I got my copy of Max Payne 3 today(disc version).
At first,my monitor went black with a 'Input signal out of range' message.I ran it in safe-mode,changed the graphical settings and all seemed well except for the fact that the game is running at 500fps+ 😱 and everything looks stretched as hell.Max looks obese and short.I changed the in-game resolution to 1600x900 @60Hz (My monitor's default setting),added command-lines like -width 1600 -height 900,fullscreen,forced the aspect ratio to 16:9 but nothing changed.I then tried changing the settings in the graphics.xml file in user documents but again,dead end!Rockstar's auto-updater is showing 0 downloads lined up.I am at my wit's end.I searched rockstar's support site for 3 hours and the internet for 4,but apart from an unofficial fix,nothing turned up.(I don't want to use that because it may render the game useless.) GPU (HD 6850)usage is also low,about 500MB(MSI AfterBurner).Any help on fixing this resolution problem will be sincerely appreciated.

Buddy, you're getting too many issues! I'd suggest you uninstall the game, delete any/ all files left behind after the uninstall and THEN reinstall it.

As for Chapter IX, I had the same issue but managed to be done with it after several tries. At first, even I thought it was a bug but then when I managed to get past it (after a considerable amount of frustration, if I may add!!!), it was all smooth.

Is your game patched/ updated? If not, do that. If it still happens, go with the reinstalling option. All the best!

I solved that problem myself.The game was running at my monitor's maximum reported resolution which is 1920x1080 @75Hz.All I had to do was change the extended display identification data or driver defaults in catalyst control center to my monitor's max supported resolution.However,I am facing a new problem now.The audio goes out of sync after some time.I updated the drivers for realtek hd audio to the latest (R 2.69) but that hasn't solved the problem.I think this does not require my full PC specs.

SPOILER: Do NOT read if you have not played the game completely!
Please help me out.In chapter IX,when Marcelo is being burned,the one-eyed man swings his blade at me and the game asks for an input from the LMB to disarm him.I keep on clicking and clicking,but the game does not respond at all and Max is killed.My mouse works fine in all scenes except in that one.I have tried resetting the controls,replugging the mouse and changing mouse sensitivity to max but it does not help.I am stuck on this mission for the past 2 days.Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Hmm tried it after two days.But it is a kind of cutscene and there is no option for restarting that level.The only option is pause (by pressing esc).I can only watch as the one-eyed man is cutting my......sorry, Max's neck.Please help!I have tried another mouse as well but nothing changes.....The game keeps asking for input and does not respond.........I can block him but can't disarm him. 🙁

Yes,my game is properly patched to the latest version AND via rockstar's auto-updater...Seriously,am feeling very disappointed....I mean,why launch a game which has so many bugs?At least release patches which address these issues quickly.🙁 Anyway,there is no point howling at the moon.I guess I have to reinstall the game(again!).I hope my Activation limit is not crossed.Any idea how many times am I allowed to Install and uninstall?And if I use Revo uninstaller and Ccleaner,will it cause any issues?

Hmm....I honestly don't know whether you'll have issues reinstalling the game repeatedly. I really really doubt you will as you have a rockstar account linked to the game and the code. I'll leave it to the expertise of the more suitable informed members here.

HOW TO change the extended display identification data or driver defaults.CAN YOU PLZ HELP ME TO FIND catalyst control center.AND MY MONITOR SUPPORTS ONLY 1800X600 AND REFRESH RATE IS 60 HZ.

Right click anywhere on the desktop and in the menu that appears,Catalyst Control Center is going to be there right on top.Click on it and a window should open.On the left hand side in that window,there are tabs like Pinned,Presets,etc.In that list,you find and click on 'My VGA Displays' and in the options that appear,Click on 'Properties(VGA Display)'.Now on the right hand side,you should see an option to check/uncheck 'Use Extended Display Identification Data (EDID)or driver defaults.In the lists provided below,choose your display resolution and refresh rate.Hope this helps.:)

PROBLEM SOLVED





Heyy i got the same problem.Its very easy to solve.Its not a bug its just that the video loads after the audio which might be due to low performence.Turn of Vsynch , Get every texture to Normal (Textures could be high).If you could really change the DirectX mode to 10 or 10.1.Turn od Tesselation.Kep the resolution (If your max resolution is 1920x1080 or something like that)-Change it to a lesser resolution like 1366x768 or something above it.If the max resolution is around 1366x768 change it to 1280x720.That would be good.VERY VERY IMPORTANT - TURN OFF MSAA.Its the main cause of everything.Antistropic Filtering to 8x and FXAA to High.Ambient Occulsion should be SSAO.That would surely stop the AV Problem.

1.Delete the graphics.xml in documents.
2.Get the game on lowest settings.(Everything Low and Off,DirectX 9).
3.Start your game.Without closing the game turn of your pc.(This will do nothing on your game or pc).
4.Turn on the PC.Send a shortcut to your desktop.
5.Right click--->Properties and write the following in the Target field -adapter 1.It should look something like this "E:\Program Files (x86)\Black_Box\Max Payne 3\PlayMaxPayne3.exe" -adapter 1(It should have a space)
6.Start the game in offline mode.It would be a black screen for a long time then will go smooth.
7.Reset your setting which suite you.
