Something might be wrong w/ Motherboard or SSHD

So around April last year, I got a laptop from Dell. At around August..and the mechanical HDD failed on me. A few months later I got a new Hard Drive, a hybrid between an SSD and an HDD. Last night my Laptop claimed that there was no boot device, I opened up the laptop and took the SSHD out and put it back in, for now it's working. I also have unfinished and finished Youtube videos that I can't lose, but me and my friends agreed that there's no reason that Hard Drives should be dying after a few months of use. My friend thinks that there could be something wrong with the Motherboard, could this be possible?

It's possible there's an issue with the motherboard. There are no reasons why you'd lose data if you perform backups to an external device or online on a regular basis.
