So when I try to record video it doesn't let me when I have another monitor running off of my laptop. My laptop only has 1 HDMI port, so I'm using this (Panlong 1X2 HDMI Splitter). I have an HDMI cable going from my computer and into the input. Then the elgato and monitor going out the outputs with HDMI cables. I have tried to mess with the TV Compatibility slide, but none of those work.
Thanks, Andrew

You actually do not need a splitter to record from your PC. The Elgato Game Capture HD acts as a TV passthrough, so your laptop sends the display signal to the Elgato Game Capture HD, and it sends the signal to the monitor via the HDMI cable in the HDMI out port, and to the software on your computer using the USB port. There are some steps you need to take still be able to record the games and audio from your computer which I have included below.
