Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work when Windows boots

I find this very odd and I can't find anything about it anywhere on the internet (probably because it's easy to fix) but as curious as I am I wonder why my keyboard doesn't always work when I'm in the logon screen of windows 8.1 while it does in the UEFI. It seems like it's supposed to be the opposite and if it's not it should be the drivers. It's neither that because sometimes it just accepts it and it's like nothing ever happens...
What revealed(/maybe caused) this issue in the first place is, because I got frustrated about the duration of the post (~22s) vs windows (8s), I started fooling around with the UEFI in a decent manner (if that's possible) so that my post at least took less then 10s with 2 hubs 3 "keyboards" and 1 mouse. Now it also loads from EZ Mode.

I'll reward the wise one with something stupid.

Btw, my native language is Dutch, so I'm expecting some errors somewhere in my text..

it'll be great if you provide some more info on the hardware such as; what connector do you use (usb,ps/2,rfc)?; what's your bios make and ver?; and what exactly do you change in the i/o settings?

some things to try though,
-if you're using usb keyboard, try changing the usb slot.
-might want to reset the bios to default and see if that fixes the keyboard issue
-if a reset fixes the issue but makes the boot get's too long for your comfort then try changing back the settings one by one, and check if the keyboard issue comes back with each changed setting.

I'm using USB and I have tried it in a different usb slot with the same result (back of pc, front panel, hub). I have a ASUS motherboard version 1703. I only changed the boot setup mode to ez mode and it doesn't check anymore for ASM1061. I have changed it some more, but I'll put it back to default.

After running sfc it all worked again. So I changed my UEFI back to what it was and it only gives me problems when I turn a USB device off (and I didn't check which) so I'm assuming that was my keyboard... :)

Thanks for the help! Like I thought it's easy to fix.
Here is your gift.
