Sonic.net ISP disconnecting

I currently have sonic.net as my ISP. Every 5 minutes i disconnect from the internet and almost reconnects instantly. This is very irritating for some applications and games. I figured it was because Sonic.net renews their DHCP every 5 minutes and my router somehow blocks the renew causing the disconnect. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? My router is WRT54G, Firmware Version: v1.00.9 .

I have used Sonic.net in the past, and I doubt that a DHCP lease of 5 minutes is true, and if it was, then they have a configuration error and you should call or email their help desk. They always gave me GREAT customer service, but I am now out of their area.

the best way is calling to service desk or smth else ...
but try to set off DHCP configuration on your gateway.
then set it bridge (PPPOE) configuration for test , check it cus i had it too 😉
