Sony Bravia doesnt detect Vaio laptop via hdmi

A few months ago my aony Bravia stopped detecting my sony vaio laptop (and my dell xps laptop) via the hdmi cable, ive done a software update on the tv, restored to factory settings and tried new hdmi cables and all ports. No avail. Ive had the tv for a few years but never experienced this. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks

With your TV being connected to your laptop via HDMI, go on your laptop while it is powered on and press the fn+f8 key to swap the display settings. (Check on your keyboard which of the f keys show a small picture of 2 displays on it and press fn+ that key)

does the laptop itself detect that there is a screen attached? have you set the hdmi input to PC? have you tried to force the detection of a new screen attached? does any other hdmi device function correctly?

The pc doesnt detect the screen however the tv recogniaes tgat there is a hdmi cable attached to one of the ports, havent tries other hdmi devices but ive tries 2 diff laptops

Open device manager on your PC

Expand the monitors, display drivers and/or graphics drivers node
Right click every driver and select update drivers through the internet

Might work.

have you tried going to configuration panel then change resolution, then press firs the detect button then the identify button. most of the time the laptop just fails to detect the screen.
