Does anyone know the difference between the Sony G520 and G520P 21" monitors? I see several online retailers selling the G520P for about $30 to $40 more than the G520, yet the Sony site lists them for the same price. Also the Sony site shows the specs for the two to be the same. What's the difference??

Old but not so wise.

Really no difference except the P has a different controller (like on the professional series) and looks slightly different.

Yesterday, when I posted this question here, I also asked basically the same question at the Sony Q&A site. I just got their response this morning. "The only difference between the two models is the frame color. The CPD-G520P will have a purplish tinge." So now my question changes to, Why do retailers think a "purplish" monitor case is worth $40? I don't expect anyone here to answer this, but it makes me wonder what else we are paying extra for that is of no real value?

Thanks SDLeMire, for trying to help. I intend to mate the G520 with either; one of the new g4 cards (4600 or 4400) or if the g4's remain vastly overpriced, a g3 TI500.

Isn't it considered the 'newer' model? I think retailers may charge more for that. Yeah, just looking at the pictures the bezel and controller are the differences, but the specs exactly the same. Still, the 'p' is likely the 'updated' version of the monitor so it may cost more even though the tube is the same.
