Question Sony HTRT40 hdmi question

I am trying to connect my new Sony htrt 40 5.1 surround sound system to my pc via hdmi cable but it doesn't seem to find the stereo at all. I know the sound system works because it works with bluetooth but bluetooth does not properly support 5.1 surround sound. Well I took the trouble of looking at the HTRT manual, because manual is Gospel, and the only HDMI jack available is designed to be hooked up to a TV, it cannot be used as an input for a PC, or anything else for that matter. It does have OPTICAL IN, can use that to hook up your PC.

Thanks for the reply. What sort of cable will I need to go from the pc to stereo if you could show me please.
