Sony vaio cpu upgrade??

Hi guys i am new here, i want to ask if my Sony Vaio VPCEB1Z1E support upgrade for an
i5 or i7 cpu with the same socket and same watts.

My laptop spec:

Intel Core i5-430M
4gb ddr3 1066
500gb hdd
ati 5650 ddr3
Socket Socket G1 / rPGA988A

I ve seen the the top cpus for this socket is Core i7-640M and Core i5-580M which is the same spec as the i5 430m.

In this site of chipset http:// And on this site says that support these cpus...Can my vaio support it????

I think the bigger problem is to get the CPU and putting them into the laptop motherboard.

I dont have a problem on this.I have already disassembly and assembly a hp g6 laptop in about 1.30 hours..No problem with the mechanical work!!!

That chip comes in two versions, BGA and PGA - http://ark.intel.com/products/43537/Intel-Core-i5-430M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_26-GHz

If it's a socketed chip (PGA) then you might be able to replace the chip with the other chips you want.

If it's BGA, forget about it because the chip is soldered to the motherboard.

Hi, its not bga and it can be replaced..But i dont know the cpu support list!!!

On the other hand, only Sony can give you an exact answer about the compatibility; check for the latest BIOS version available.

Hi Lagoudakos! Did you manage to find an answer on this? I have the same laptop and was wondering about this CPU upgrade. I have installed Evo 850 SSD and upgraded RAM to DDR3 8GB 1066MHz and it would be awesome if i could make this even faster.

hi to all i just upagrade my sony vaio vpceb1z1e with i7 620m with no problems.

Now i would like to ask what will happen IF i put a cpu with more watts like 45 or 55 ??
because i found some i7 with same socket and the m/o with hm55 chipset support it.
