sony vaio laptop does not power on even with charger connected

I have a Sony vaio laptop model pcg- 7113L and when I press the power button only the green light comes on the Orange light comes on if I keep the power button pressed down but it does not power up the monitor does not come on. I know that the battery is probably dead but with the adapter charger it usually comes on. Can you explain what is wrong?

you may have a broken power cable or internal I/O card.

take the battery out to see if will powerup or at least show what light(s) come on.
