Sony vaio laptop freezes when idle

I've been trying 4 months now trying to fix this freezing issue and it's still not fixed, I installed all the latest drivers, tried all the cleaning tools from Microsoft (defrag, chk disk etc.).

Some specs:

- It's a laptop
- Got it new in 2011 from Best Buy (4 years old)
- I cleaned it out a couple weeks ago (blew all the dust out)
- Sometimes when I am gaming - playing League of Legends my fps will drop for a split second then go back to normal
- i7 processor
- Nvidia GeForce 540M graphics card
- Windows 10 home premium ( freezes still occured on Windows 7)
- 8192 MB of RAM memory
- VPCF236FM is the model of my laptop

Hi,

Start by doing a complete virus/malware cleanup with your laptop.

Next is to uninstall/reinstall the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall NVIDIA graphics driver.
- Open Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to NVIDIA graphics.
- Download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer site.

- Once installed reboot your PC for all the changes to take effect.
