Hi,
A friend of mine came over with his Sony Vaio (Single 4 GB RAM Stick) which was facing a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD. I came upon a solution that involved running the memory diagnostics tool in admin tools, The computer was booting and functioning quite well in safe mode.

After running the tool the Memory Management BSOD was replaced by an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD.

Given that the above 2 have been mostly attributed to RAM error, I ran Memtest for about 2 or so hours but it gave no error. It did however Pass it about 1 or 2 times.

So I finally reinstalled Windows 7 and the previous BSOD was replaced by a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD.

What is the underlying problem causing the BSOD? Cause I've run out of ideas. Could it be a failing RAM? And if so is it possible for a computer to boot up in such a condition? Thanks for the help.

PS My friend uses his laptop simply, he has never attempted to modify it or get it modified. Never has he overclocked or done anything to change it in anyway. He plays the occasional game on it and thats about it. He has been using it the way it came out of the box for an year and a half and only recently faced the error. However he did mention that he leaves it on the bed, with it running. I'm not sure if the vents got blocked or not during these sessions, but it's a possibility.

hey can anyone help? My friend needs the computer fixed up fast and service centers here can be downright costly, they'll end up replacing all of the parts and give you a huge bill. They are already asking for 31000 rupees, which is about 70 to 80 % of the price of the laptop!
I wouldn't bother you all but he has been calling me non stop as his finals are approaching and he needs the laptop to study.
