My HD failed and I did a clean W7 install
How to get my fingerprint reader working?

The Sony support site should have a list of all drivers for all models of Sony computers for download. I would start there.

I went there, selected my model, and downloaded.

On install came an error message.... only good for VISTA

I believe I was careful to make all proper selections.

Well, I got it working, but ..............

I tried again to download drivers from Sony with the same error notice. There were two choices

*** Reinstall Using Recommended Settings .... THAT GAVE .... Vista only
***The Program Installed correctly..... That just closes the window

But,now Device manager reports it is working .... but I can't launch it.
I guess the error notice was false?... or some other reason.
The Device is made by Authentec (?)


Control Panel/ Biometric Devices shows it..... with a choice to.... Use ........ with Windows

THAT tookl me to the www.authentec.com site which indicated I need a management app

Downloaded mswu64.exe and installed

NOW when I choose....... Use ........ with Windows
the app opened to "enroll" me......

Voice!

It works....... but the path to success was not exactly clean
