Hello everyone. Not sure if anyone could help me with this, but people on here have been such a great huge help with other issues ive had, so worth a try, huh? Ok I have a Sony ICD-SX46 Voice Recorder. Sony's driver is only compatible with Windows Vista, XP, or 2000 however I am running windows 10. The device itself installed just fine on my laptop, however I have no driver to run it. Does anyone know if there is any other generic driver that may be compatible? I dont understand why Sony has a product that they dont update software for. I have done a bunch of "googling", lots of people are frustrated by this and there seems to be no alternatives to connect to PC. Just thought I would ask on here anyway. If there is a solution you guys can find it 😉
Thanks for your time

Here's the thing, you don't need generic drivers to get your voice recorder up and running. In fact most often generic drivers will only mess things up quite a bit.

If you have the drivers on hand, as of now, you can run the driver for the Sony ICD-SX46 in compatibility mode. This was brought back from Windows 7 although it was missing within 8 and 8.1 and was a welcome sight for all those running older hardware on their shiny new machines.

Here's how you avail compatibility mode:
Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility tab>Windows Vista/XP/2000 [ from the drop down menu]

I don't understand why Sony has a product that they don't update software for.
Creative have done this and they have been criticized...

Creative have done this and they have been criticized for it. Most often they are re-branded hardware with rewritten software.

Hope this helps.
