I need to know if i sould upgrade from 2 gig DDR2 533 (PC2-4200) dual channel to this "OCZ Platinum Revision-2 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Dual Channel memory". I currently have 4 slots for ram however i dont want my new ram to run at the 533 mhz clock or will it ran at 800 mhz please help would much apreciate.

P.S.
So i guess my question's are as folow's ...

1. sould i buy the ocz to upgrade?
2. should i take out my old ram and replace it with the ocz
3. sould i just slap the ocz in with it and not get the benifits of 800 mhz

B.t.w. it is a gaming pc more than anyhting else.

Firstly, does your motherboard support DDR800? Even if it does, all of the RAM would have to run at the speed of the slowest modules, i.e. 533MHz.

Hi, says on the Intel website that it only supports up to DDR667. A bios update may have come out to support DDR800, but this is something I would check before you buy the ram. Also bear in mind what I said above about ram running at the speed of the slowest modules. RAM is pretty cheap at the minute though, so although the performace increase will not be great if you switch from 533 to 667/800, I can see why you are tempted:)

All of your ram will default to 533 as mentioned above.

Unless you are running 64 bit Windows, you will not see the full benefit of 4gb. If you are running 32bit Windows a good upgrade would be to get 2x512mb sticks of 533, preferably the same brand and type you have on their now. This will give you the 3gb max for 32 bit, and will improve performance a slight bit.

Generally speaking, unless you are overclocking the system, you do not need the DDR2 800 heat spreader stuff.

Additionally, if your CPU is 800 or 1066 FSB, then the ram you have is fine. If your CPU is 1333 FSB, you would benefit slightly from DDR2 667 ram.
