Sounblaster x-fi extreme vs sound max onboard

hi guys,

which is the better sound card, sound max onboard digital audio of my x-fi extreme card?

I have the bose companion 5 speakers as im short on space and would have no room for much else..

Id like to get the 3d effects of the sound card..and I believe both have them?

I believe any "discrete" sound card will serve you better than a typical onboard chip.

Don't the BC5's have virtual surround anyway?

you know, I dont know how the bc5 work..they dont even use a sound card? and plug into the usb port...
