Sound Blaster Z audio card bugs?

So I recently bought a Sound Blaster Z PCIE audio card and for whatever reason the audio will fade on one of my ear cups and move to the other. Is this a bug with the software it has or could it be a hardware problem?

EDIT: I just did the noise test and when it said it was playing through the left cup I could hear it but when it moved to the right I had no sound whatsoever.

I'd tend to think you just got a faulty card. If it's within the return period I'd consider exchanging it for a new one. Is the proper Creative software and driver package installed? Before returning it you can try it in different PCIe slots.
