I have had non stop issues with audio on my pc starting out with my audio having a louder volume on the left cup and putting more volume on the left jsut wrecks the overall sound volume and quality of the Supreme FX audio. From there I have just been using a 7.1 surround sound usb adapter for my siberia v3s but the audio is no were near as good as my on board audio but like i said. Its messed up plus the on board audio non stop has little static jolts in the background and im just sick of my audio setupin general.

To get on with it. Is it just worth it to bite the bullet and buy a sound blaster Z for like $80?
Anyone have any xperience with a rog board with supreme fx then moved onto a dedicated card?

oh ya my mobo is an asus rog formula 6 with on board supreme FX audio
my headset is a steelseries siberia v3

No, i've never used Supreme FX.

Between the Z and that, it is most likely about the same in quality. I've always found Creative cards to be on the loud side, from my old Live! 5.1 to my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer to the current Sound Blaster Z.

If you want to match and/or exceed the specs, you want the ZxR. But again with the Z you prolly won't hear the difference if Supreme FX is as good as Asus says it is.

If you have never used a Creative card before, be prepared for eventual driver issues. Sometimes randomly the card just disappears from the device manager, parts of the driver control panel will magically disappear as if uninstalled. Changing hardware in your PC can make it act up. Just overall weirdness from Creative products it seems...

Just overall weirdness from Creative products it seems, these issues have all occurred on every card i've had of theirs. Reseating the card and uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers fixes it though but it is annoying.

Overall I recommend the Z for a low cost dedicated sound card. It has some issues sometimes but the performance is good and has lots of options. The sound it produces is of high quality. If you catch it on sale on the Creative store, you can get it for about $60 USD. I got mine on the last black friday sale in a combo with a 5.1 speaker set + the card for $110.

thanks, i think ill just watch the price then get it when it goes for $60 or somthing. I can deal with driver issues its hardware issues that are a pain in my neck

The issue with the snapping is the result of the audio channel being off. When Windows connects the channel to sound chip (in my case the 1150), the output of the device is not likely exactly 0V. So you get a snap initially when the audio channel connects as it equalizes potential between the output of the device and your speakers. As long as an audio channel is open, you won't get more snaps. However if Windows doesn't play any sounds for awhile, it closes all the open audio channels and then you get a snap when it connects again.

I seen a guy on Youtube that used this software (forget the name of it, it might be Jack or something like that), its for audio content creation, you can use it to force a channel to remain on and this seems to fix the issue.

Update, here is the video link (and I was right it was Jack):
