Hiya guys and girls!
I am using USB the Razer Megalodon 7.1 gaming headphones on windows 10.
I get maybe 10minutes to 30minutes of game-play before my sound starts breaking up slowly at first, then gets worse till it stops altogether. I have noticed it happens most in the deploy screen of battlefield 1 and in Rust near furnaces/water/choppers and planes. Background sounds while out grinding seem to not effect it.
Its almost like there are too many channels trying to compete so it drops them all.
Pulling the USB cable out and putting it back in brings the sound back, sometimes for a few minutes and others for a few seconds.
If i'm in game and and streaming a video from netflix the sound on netflix audio stutters at the same time/frequency as in game.
I also noticed recently that i drop 15-20FPS in game when the audio starts to falter. but CPU and memory usage remains unchanged (in performance monitor).
Interesting thing is, sound is breaking up looking at furnace...but if i look straight up or down the breaking up stops (for awhile then its stops suddenly altogether).
It appears to happen on all games but not on web videos (you tube, netflix etc.)
this has been happening for the last month or two.
Things i have tried/tested so far.
*made sure "exclusive application control" is disabled
*all enhancements are disabled
*CPU and memory usage are below 50%
*i reset the headset using the middle button on the controller box for a long press.
*I recently did a full reinstall of windows and the issue persists.
*If i switch sound to my speakers instead of the headphones (on-board sound) the issue persists.
*tried installing a 3rd party audio codec ASIO4ALL (thought it might be worth a shot)
*plugging USB into different ports (front back USB2/3)
*updated bios (it was out of date but added nothing that would affect the sound.)
*tried using stereo mode in windows and on the megalodon sound box
*updated chip-set driver to the latest version.
I'm thinking it might be a conflict of some kind as it seems to effect system wide and the game FPS drops. But i have no idea how to verify a conflict or even deal with it.
Would be so happy if this issue was fixed. been bugging me for 2-3 months now. (yes thats how long i been looking for a cause/fix for this)
Phenom2 X6 1090t
M4a89GTD pro/USB3
8Gb corsair dominator
1KW akasa PSU
Vertex4 SSD
2X 7950 3gb boost edition in crossfire
Windows 10
Please please if anyone can help.
Edit: OK so playing around with the graphics settings in Rust(the game) i found out that when i turn the graphics to the lowest the issue stops. i am currently testing each setting individually to see which of the settings is causing the issue or if its a total balance of setting that's causing it.
I cant understand how the USB system and the graphics system can be interfering with each other as CPU and memory usage never go over 75%. any thoughts as to why?
Will report my findings.
