Sound card 7.1 headset

So, me and my friend had a argue before, about if you use a headset with a soundcard, you dont need one in pc. so for an example.
Your soundcard broke, and you buy an ex: Blue Yeti Microphone which has a soundcard in it, will I still be able to listen to music with the sound card inside the microphone?
My question: When you use an USB Port for a headset or any kind of sound, it always got an own soundcard? That doesnt use the PC's soundcard?

usb headphones do not use computer internal sound cards, but instead have their own built in sound cards
