Sound card and speaker questions

Hey, I'm building a gaming computer for my dad and he asked me to get Bose speakers for him. Heres what I have so far. Would like to add a 64 or 128 SSD for OS and a few games if we have extra money, budget it 1700. Wondering what speaker/sound card would be best and if theres anything else that should be changed. A Bose computer speaker system does not require a sound card. It plugs into a USB port.

would it be advantageous to get a sound card? I was under the impression that it would produce a higher quality sound and then that on top of the bose system would be great?

I haves used soundcards in the past with good speakers and have never been disappointed.

Currently, I wanted a better sound from my Laptop and purchased a Soundblaster Recon 3D to try out since it was on a less than half off sale.
Well, very happy with it hooked up to my 2.1 THX Logitech speakers. My Sennheiser 515 headphones are sitting gathering dust now.

If I were build a Desktop like you, I would get an internal Sndcard and 5.1 or 7.1 speakers- depending on your extra budget of course.
Good sound really makes a difference when listening to music and blowing things up in a game.
