Sound Card Compatibility?

But why does it have 3 golden "connectors"? Would it work in a typical PCI slot like this:

Hello... Are there actually PiNs on the extra front tab ? as you can see there is a slot in the front MB PCI connector... There were different ISA and PCI versions, back in the early days of sound cards.

I found the sound card on amazon, and that extra prong is so it can fit multiple formats of PCI slots. It will fit everything except the PCI express slots. Next time, provide the actual part rather than the image.

what the make and model of the sound card? don't look like pci

your good thats a normal pci card. one of them will hang out the front. if i remember right one of the small tabs is the 3v power and the other is the 5v power most devices will not need both

Unless you have a very old motherboard u don't need a sound card, nearly all modern motherboards have audio built-in. The only times u need a sound card nowadays is if the mb audio whent bad or u work in the high end audio industry or something similar.

Hello... with Audio recording an USB/Firewire external unit is typically used with solid ASIO drivers for the DAW program used... AND full size Mic/Iinstrument/MIDI inputs... this type of card is not of that class for a "Home studio"
is this a gift? if you got a budget I can suggest...
What are his/her recording needs? Keyboard/Midi... Guitar/bass... Vocals... OR?
