I have a Windows 98 PC in which I recently installed drivers for a "SoundBlaster PCI 128" sound card. 3D games or more modern ones like Diablo, Half-life, Fallout 1-2 crash immediately and locks up system. Upon launching Doom 95, where it says what it is loading it stops at setting up sound. I checked for IR and DM conflicts and I don't think there is any Sound Card settings for any. My specs are (in case you think it's a hardware issue).

OS: Windows 98SE
CPU: Pentium III: 450Mhz Socket: Slot 1
RAM: 192MB
Graphics: Geforce 2 MX/2 64MB AGP
Sound: Sound Blaster PCI 128 CT 4810
PSU: Generic 300watt
Optical Drive: NEC Compact Disc Drive, Zip Drive, Floppy Drive
HDD(s): Maxtor 91296D6- (PM)

Solution
I'd try to uninstall the driver and see if the problems go away. If so, its likely a driver issue.

I'm not really knowledgable about IRQ conflicts and such.

Fixed the problem, but it is still weird if it works with SimCity, why doesn't it work with doom 95, half-life, or Fallout? Thanks for your help remixislandmusic but if there is anyone else who can help please reply to this thread.
