Hi All,

After several searches, I bought a new sound card. Its
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express.

Its a decent card and major upgrade from my old SB live 4.1 card.

My prob is this. I'm using a vga card inno3d geforce 8800GT(pci-e) . As shown below, it doesn't hav the heat sink cover with it.

I'm afraid becuase now there is a very little gap between these 2 cards,
3-6 mm. For now, i hav removed my cover to reduce the heat generation, but I still afraid of getting fry my sound card in the long term use.
Fortunately my proc is C2D E4500 which doesn't heat much.

Can somebody share his experience who is using both pci-e slots? Is this heat bearable and totally normal situation?

Hi all, Its me again and now I'm having a problem.

I used to play crysis at max settings + 2xAA before I buy my pci ex sound card. There were no problem at all.
But yesterday I installed crysis again and .... after couple of minutes gameplay the VGA freezes.

Everest report my VGA goes around 97C. I tried after removing my side casing as wel, but no luck. Though I didn't check the heat after removing the sound card, I'm pretty sure that this is the problem. The heat has nowhere to go.
(I was playing far cry 2 at max, GTA 4 @ medium, NFS undercover at max without any problem. VGA usually goes max to 93)

VGA fan is wired with 2 wires so I cannot change the fan speed as well. it runs @ 100%.

Does anybody have a clue of what should I do now?

What card are you using because 9800GT's get very hot so my guess is that you're using a 98GT, if so I think the best idea would be to get Duorbs.

Its a 8800GT. Though they have almost same specs i'm not sure about sizes.
I'm wondering anyone out there haven't got an experience like this. because many pci-e sound cards available there such as asus xonar/ creative and many other hotter vga cards out there such as ultra editions :-?
