Sound card issue after crash && windows update.

My laptop had blue screened. After the blue screen windows update immediately took place. Once everything finished and updated everything seemed fine until i tried using a program to voice chat with others. Programs dont pick up my microphone at all.
I went into sound settings and ticked "Listen to device" and i could actually hear myself perfectly fine. But when it comes to programs, even skype, it says cant locate sound card.
Sound works fine though i can hear everything. Just programs dont pick up microphone

This seems to be a common issue with the 1803 update. You should check the "drivers and support" page of your laptop manufactorer and manually re-install the audio driver. That fixed the problem for a mate of mine.
