Sound card jack not workin

I have Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, with sigmatel c-major Audio sound card, but suddenly my speaker/headphone jack has stopped working due to unkown reason what should I do ?

Check your wiring and connections. Also the device manager in the control panel of windows under "system".

well my mic is working fine but not the headphone/speaker jack. It was fine but suddenly this problem started. I'm using windows 7 now.
