Hey Guys I just Got a Sound Blaster X-fi Model SB0790 for 15 bucks still in box at a thrift store, It was a very big score.

My question is though, I have the Asus Formula iX Mobo & was wondering..

The Sound Blaster doesn't have a optical out port & unfortinetly I dount have any speakers.. I use Astro A50 headset optical..

I read on a amazon QA soomething about optical audio..

It got me thinking is there a way to audio pass through the MOBO Optical out port?

I mean it is in the PCI port..

Let me know.
Thanks

You were better off with the onboard audio on the motherboard. The X-Fi card, back in the day, was revolutionary since the audio on motherboard's was just catching up. Today, they've matured to a point that soundcards are meant for audiophiles. The regular end user wont be able to the difference unless they have high end headphones or audio equipment.

To answer your question, no there's no way. Take out the sound card and drop into a system that doesn't have good audio(and doesn't lack driver support). Creative are known to stop driver support for older products simply so that you migrate to their new product range.
