Hi people,

I am a composer and having a very specific problem with one my projects. I am going to compose 12 pieces in collaboration with a plastician. She is designing an installation where there is going to be a heart in the middle of the room and we want to put some sort of Raspberry pi or another small computer with an external soundcard which has 12 stereo outputs into it. The heart will have 12 holes so each output can be reached with headphones by people who will visit the exhibition. Thereby, they can listen to different tunes by plugging the headphone jack in one of these outputs.

Could you tell me how I can create or simply buy an audio interface that has 12 stereo outputs? Does it exist?

Thx in advance,

Solution
My daughter has 3 different ones and they all charge while playing.

Just check the specs. It would be worth getting one to test if you wish but at 81 cents and up on Amazon it's worth a try.

Thx for your message Paul NZ but I don't understand why u are sending me an ebay article about homestudio interfaces. I have a homestudio as well and I know most of these cards. My problem is I need a card or a board from which it is possible to obtain 12 independant stereo outputs. I do not need any inputs.

So you mean I should buy 12 stereo usb interfaces and plug them to a computer through powered usb hub?

That is a good idea but a mp3 player might become problematic with the battery life issu. The exhibition will last for a month. I guess the best solution would be to buy cheap single stereo output usb sound cards, than plug them to a 12 channel powered usb hub. This way I can assign each composition to each one them on a DAW and play the whole thing in loop. I wonder though if a computer or Raspberry pi could detect 12 usb component at the same time and process...

MP3 Player can be kept plugged in on on repeat. Simpler cheaper option.

I've seen some on Amazon for less than a dollar which should easily handle one song.

So do you mean it is possible to keep mp3s plugged on a usb hub and play in repeate at the same time? You sure? Because I have never had a cheap mp3 that can charge and play at the same time.

Thx a lot for the idea. I will !
