Sound cards compatible with windows 7

No sound with Win7 on my Asus P4V800D-X mother board. Is it fixable or do I need a new sound card?

Try to update it from the device manager.

Is it a missing driver?

No. Downloaded several "fixes" as well as new drivers. Ended up putting in a sound card which solved my problem. Thanks for the input.
