Hey Forum,

I'm currently having problems with my sound.
At random while I have some sort of audio going, the sound will distort.
I've tried updating the onboard drivers on my motherboard, I've tried system restores to a time where I was pretty sure I didn't have this problem.
I'm at a loss.

Anything you folks can do would be appreciated.

My specs are:

Core i5 3570K
MSI Z77A-G41
16GB RAM
Sapphire R9 390
Silverstone 700w ST70F-ESG
WD 1TB Blue

To further add to the description, the distortion is often like a slow down.

The DAC on the mother board could be having problems with the digital clock. This is what audiophiles would call "jutter" where tracks seemingly speed up and slow down because the wave form and the timing clock get out of what during digital to analog conversion. Although this is no longer a real problem in modern digital components, a faulty component could cause timing errors.

try running a digital format out from the PC then play it. (usb sound device or HDMI sound device)

The term jutter refers to extremely small but frequent errors. in your case you may be having prolonged periods of timing error. then going back to normal.
