Sound driver problem

Hello!

I reinstalled my Vista yesterday and installed most of the drivers successfully. But like the last time, the sound drivers are giving me a hard time.
I have CMI 8738 Audio Codec and Xear 3D audio engine. I installed drivers and all sounds worked at first. After a few minutes of listening to music, the sound became "cracking-like" and sort of echoing with delays. It's awful and I'd like to know how to I fix this.

Thanks in advance.

It seems to occur only when I'm in non-fullscreen applications. When watching movies or videos in fullscreen, the sound is normal.

The peculiar thing is, that when I enter full screen mode in either a game or a video, the sound becomes normal and I also my FPS in video games also goes back to the normal 60-120 it was with the last installation.

I have a C-Media sound driver and ATI HD 4600 series graphics card. Both should be running latest drivers, AFAIK.

Any help would be appreciated.
