Question Sound from speakers but not from subwoofer ?

I'm trying to set up surround sound on my new PC; I've connected everything up but no sound is coming from the subwoofer. A quick search suggests I need to play with the settings in the Realtek Audio Console, however it doesn't appear to be anywhere on my machine. I've tried to download it via the Microsoft Store, but it won't let me. I've also downloaded the latest driver from the Gigabyte website, again to no avail. I'm out of ideas, so I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.

Mobo is Gigabyte B550 Gaming X v2 and per the manual I've connected the front speakers to the green jack, rear to blue and subwoofer to pink. Speakers are Creative Inspire P7800, OS is Windows 11.

Not sure about the selected port connections.

E.g., Pink would be microphone.....

FYI:

And another possible way for thing to get mixed up is TS, TRS, TRRS. [Tip, Ring, Sleeve).

There are standards but some manufacturers (such as Apple) use their own proprietary connectivity.

You can easily find othe similar links and explanations.

Yeah, I understand that pink is nominally the headphone jack, I was just going by what it said in the manual - that if you're going for a 5.1 set-up, that's where you should plug the subwoofer. If that's not the case, would you know how I would go about configuring for 5.1?

This speaker set?

https://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?prodID=10594&prodName=Inspire P7800

Very old and discontinued...

Do you have some other link to the manual? Just in case I did not correctly identify the speakers.....

If possible make a simple sketch showing how you are connecting everything. Show all devices/speakers, connections, cables, pins, and ports. Does not need to be fancy - just clear and understandable.

And/or take some photographs. Post the photographs here via imgur. (www.imgur.com)

In the meantime, I am going to move this thread from Components to Home Audio & Theater.

More applicable category.

First up, slight correction, they're the T7900 set.

I'm only really after 2.1 audio, so I've connected the green jack for the front speakers out of the subwoofer and into the green 'line out' jack on the motherboard, then the orange jack for the subwoofer itself to the pink microphone jack on the motherboard. Per the yellow arrows:

The rest of the connections (pink) are per the speaker manual:

It was my understanding, per Gigabyte (p11 - https://download.gigabyte.com/FileL...e_1101.pdf?v=e9fbe19e1c46d0db3589dcbbec5d7725), that I then retask the jacks to the correct purpose. However, as mentioned, I can't find any means by which to do this.

Right click the speaker icon on the task bar.
choose sounds.
Click the play back tab.
Scroll down to Speakers. make sure they are default. Green check mark on them.
Click on speakers to highlight it. mine turns blue.
Now click the configure button at the bottom.
There choose 5.1 for your speaker setup.
This changes all jacks on the motherboard to be 2 channel outputs.
Then follow speaker connection in your diagram.

OK, that's what I'd done. When I click 'Test' after selecting 5.1, I still only get sound through the front left and right speakers and not the subwoofer. I click Next, which takes me a screen with 'Optional speakers': Centre, Subwoofer, Side pair (greyed out) and Rear pair, As I'm only after 2.1, I've just ticked the Subwoofer box. It then goes to 'Select full-range speakers': Front left and right, Surround speakers, the first of which is ticked (but no combination of ticks here seems to have any effect). Not sure if I'm missing something?

Yeah, that was my understanding. I unplugged the speakers from the subwoofer, to test, and then reconnected and it all seems to be working now. Thanks Unolocogringo and Ralston for taking the time; much appreciated :giggle:
