Sound/Game crashes in PUBG

For some reason whenever I play PUBG, my game freezes/locksup and takes me back to my desktop, only to show me my audio settings in ROG SupremeFX. Upon the freeze, if I am in comms such as Discord, then I am no longer able to hear my friends but they can hear me. To fix the issue I have to unplug my headphone jack then plug it back in and confirm it in ROG SupremeFX to be able to hear my friends on Discord. Then I am able to Alt Tab back into the game where it will just freeze/lockup again and the whole situation repeats.

Notes:

- I thought it was possibly the motherboard since my headphone jack is plugged into it, however I see no reason this would be the case.

- Recently I have been mining Zcash (crypto) using EWBFs miner, using my ASUS ROG STRIX 1080 TI. I have only been mining for just over a month, only part-time like overnight or for a few hours during the day and sometimes I don't mine for days because I just forget to. My GPU temps at below 52 degrees so it shouldn't cause any problems

- This only happens to PUBG, since this is the only game I play at 99% GPU usage

- I have no troubles using my PC whilst browsing and watching YouTube videos. This ONLY happens when my GPU stays around 99% for anywhere between a minute and halfway through a game of PUBG.

- This whole issue happened to me yesterday and the day before, however I restarted my PC and it seemed to have fixed it temporarily, or I just got lucky not to freeze.

- All my parts are less than 7 months old, except for the PSU which I got second hand from a friend. The PSU has done me good and I've never had any issues with it so I doubt there is a problem with it. Although I could be wrong.

- I have updated all my GPU drivers, sound drivers and I have even ran multiple troubleshooters for my hardware etc. Whilst troubleshooting for hardware issues I was prompted to restart my PC, so I did, thinking it may have found the culprit but it did not since the issue occured in the frickin PUBG lobby (a first).

PC Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16gb (2x8gb) DDR4 3000MHz

MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix Z270E

GPU: ASUS ROG Strix 1080 Ti

PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 Gold 750w

Help is much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried removing the audio drivers and have reinstalled them but no luck. For some reason a restart fixes the issue temporarily but the issue still persists later that day. I’m under the impression that it is on PUBG’s side and not my PC. Since I was playing Total War: W2 on Ultra for a good few hours. Which is a lot more GPU intensive than PUBG

I’ve read in other places that some people with good PC specs are also having this problem with PUBG, so hopefully the problem gets publicised enough for the devs to catch on

Hi
I am having the exact same issue.
I have the same motherboard, ram, cpu and a strix 1080 card. Did u ever find a solution. Re installing audio drivers stops it for a day or two and so does updating bios but the issue returns.
Thanks

No sorry, I haven't found any solution yet. It's definitely got something to do with the hardware if your specs are virtually the same as mine. Bluehole is fkn pathetic. I haven't played the game in 8 weeks now but if I get on and it's still doing that BS I'm gonna be pissed. Also, have you always been experiencing this issue? Because mine seemed to have just appeared out of no where one day after a PUBG update.

it also appeared one day out of nowhere for me after probably 40 hours total of gamepaly. although the day it started happening for me i used xbox game bar to optimise pubg. i have disabled x box game bar yesterday but it hasnt changed anything either its still crashing.

Strange. It could possibly be one of our NVIDIA drivers conflicting with the newer Windows updates. Cause whenever I try to open my Geforce Experience recording software PUBG seems to crash shortly after. And when it's disabled I can play full-length games for hours on end without issues. Another thing, whenever I play PUBG with my mates and I'm using comms like discord, it seems to crash very quickly. So it has to be something to do with drivers, surely. Also, I got a mate who diagnoses and fixes PC problems for a living and he's gonna try fixing it this weekend. I'll post back here if he finds a solution and try to explain the context of the issue and how to fix it

I tried this many times and it didn't work for me unfortunately. Thanks for posting back though, I appreciate it.

I have since reinstalled my Windows 10 and removed absolutely everything and so far so good. Hopefully I haven't spoken to soon though lol

hi orchilley

i had another issue with sonic studio 3 (it is supreme fx related) not routing audio correctly to different speakers/headphones. i have gone into supreme fx and checked the box to make the front and the rear outputs devices playback two different audio streams. as seen in the below link. im not sure how to get into supreme fx except for unplugging and plugging back in my headphones and supreme fx then opens.

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?101291-Sonic-Studio-III-and-routing-applications-not-working-correctly

im not sure if this has actually played a part in rectifying my issue but i thought i would mention it is something i have changed along the way to my issue so far stopping knock on wood.
